Umahi Pays Bills, Mother Of Triplets Freed in Ebonyi Hospital

A mother of triplets from Onuebonyi Igbeagu, Izzi Local Government Area whose hospital bill worth over one hundred and eighty thousand Naira was on weekend discharged without  payment in Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital (AE-FETHA1) Abakaliki.
The Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Richard Ewa, while carrying out the exercise at the hospital (AE- FETHA 1) stated that it is a policy agreed between the state government and the  Hospital Management that any pregnant woman who gave birth to triplet whether through Cesarian Operation or not shall go home without paying a hospital bill, noting that the hospital would also give free treatment to the mother and the babies for the period of six months.
Dr. Ewa encouraged all pregnant women in Ebonyi state to always register for antenatal in the hospital to guarantee their safety during delivery and prayed God to protect the triplet till their old age.
According to him, ” we are doing this to encourage all pregnant women to attend antenatal in this clinic so that they will be save and their babies will be saved too, more importantly, as we are discharging them today, we are still going to give them  free six months treatment both the mother and the babies”.
 “In every medical conditions they come with, the hospital will take care of it without charging them even one naira.” he revealed
He urged the parents to train the children with the fear of God and appeals to government at all levels and well spirited individuals to assist the family for easy caring of the children.
However, Dr. Ewa maintained that the hospital was ready to refund all money being paid to those  who were discharged without their knowledge.
Speaking, the Head of Nursing Service in the hospital Mrs. Wilfred Chukwu, appreciated God  for the safe birth of the triplet and thanked those who contributed for the delivery of the children.
In their separate speeches, the mother of the triplet, Mrs. Gloria Uguru, the mother In-law, Mrs. Beatrice Ogbonnaya and as well as, Mrs. Blessing Uguru, extolled the Management Staff of the hospital and promised to train the children in the fear of God while thanking the state Governor Engr. David Umahi for implementing such policy in the hospital which according to her would go in a long way to reduce the plight faced by mother of the twins.
