*urges all worshipers to observe COVID-19 protocols

President of the United Church of Christ in Nations known as HEKAN, Reverend Amos G. Kiri has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the Kaduna State governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and their team for the proactive steps taken in curtailing the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 (CoronaVirus) pandemic.
Kiri said without mincing words, there is no doubt that the world at large has learnt great lessons that everyone will live with for the rest of his lives.
Addressing HEKAN Members on the recent ease of lockdown in Kaduna State and other parts of the country, the HEKAN President urges all members to once again appreciate God for his faithfulness and unfailing love throughout the Period of the CoronaVirus Pandemic lockdown.
“I want to use this medium to commend His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari; President Federal Republic of Nigeria and His Excellency Mallam Nasir el-Rufai Executive Governor of Kaduna State and his team for the proactive steps taken in curtailing the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 (CoronaVirus) pandemic. We commend the efforts of the government which helped greatly in mitigating the spread of the deadly virus.
“Coming out of almost three months lockdown imposed in Kaduna state and the nation at large. Throughout these past months, I know it has not been easy with all of us as a Church and Nigerians as a whole.
“Majority of us have never experienced or even imagined that one day in our life time we will not be able to come together to worship as congregations, Glory be to God and appreciation to the government haven headed to our calls as religious leaders to relax the lockdown,” he said.
The HEKAN President further said the world at large has learnt great lessons during the outbreak of the dreaded Coronavirus that ravaged the entire globe.
“Without mincing words, there is no doubt that all of us have learnt great lessons that we will live with for the rest of our lives. Some of these lessons include God’s sovereignty is unquestionable, That God is still the same as yesterday, today and for evermore in his love towards us, We learnt that the end time signs are more vivid than before- Jesus is coming soon, We learnt who are really our friends and who are just pretending to be friends, We learnt the importance of planning ahead, We learnt that in every situation and problem, God has a perfect solution.”
The HEKAN leadership applauded the efforts of its clergies for keeping the flocks together during the pandemic, nothing that as difficult as the situation was, God for watches over his people throughout the lockdown.
“I believe you know that the enormous work ahead of you is a serious one. Gear up for more trying times ahead, feed your sheep by taking them to greener pasture and give them the guide that will help their spiritual growth. Many of the sheep have been starved of the word of God these past months, so I urge you to Fill the gaps by giving them rich food to eat”
Kiri also enjoined his members to obey all the regulations laid down by the Government and the Church for the safety of the church and the society at large, saying there must be discipline in the house of God.
In the address, the church also commiserated with those that lost their loved ones during the pandemic period even not as a result of the COVID-19.
HEKAN said the use of face mask and other approved items that will help in curtailing the spread of the virus is Compulsory to all worshippers.
“I urge leadership at both LCCs and DCCs to support members who cannot afford face mask; these must be observed consistently”
The HEKAN President appealed to all HEKAN churches across the country and beyond to re-open for the usual Sunday worship, but warned that service should not exit 1 hour and half.
