President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, on Tuesday assured that the Ajaokuta – Kaduna – Kano Gas Pipeline project would create job opportunity for majority of Nigerians.
He gave the assurance during the flag off construction of the 40-inch x 614km Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline project at Rigachikun, Kaduna State.
During the flag off, via video conference, the President, Muhammadu Buhari explained that the Ajaokuta – Kaduna – Kano Gas Pipeline project is dear to Nigerians and also assured its success.
He appreciated the efforts put in place by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and all relevant stakeholders towards success of the project despite the COVID 19 pandemic.
Buhari urged Governors of Kaduna, Kano, Niger and Kogi states as well as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to provide the enabling environment and support for the project.
All kind of investment like petrochemical, fertilizer will now commence as we are happy today to flags it off, he stated.
In a response via an interview, Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai said, Kaduna Refinery which was built in the late 70s, the President is back again to bring another transformative oil and gas project to the state.
The project is expected to promote and increase the local usage of domestic gas, while increasing the country’s revenue generation through the export of natural gas.
According to him, the pipe will bring gas to Kaduna and Kano, the governor assured that, “the opportunity is unlimited, this project will tansform the lives of the people in the state and improve the economy.

“We are greatful to Mr President and the Minister for making this great project come to reality.
It will enable us build Power stations, fertilizer plan and Petro chemical gas, it will enable us to pipe gas to people homes so that they can stop using woods, this projects will transform the lives of Kaduna and it’s people.
“My great joy personally is that, this projects is a global project, a local project as well as national projects we are happy today, this will bring in great opportunities in the state.
“Our hope and prayers is that in two years Mr president and the Minister will come back here to officially commissioned this projects which will open up so many opportunities for peoples in Kaduna. We are very very grateful,” he said.
