The Kaduna State Peace Commission (KAPECOM) is optimistic that ongoing peace Template for Kajuru Local Government Area will be successful and sane adopted in other LGAs in the state.
Executive Vice Chairperson Kaduna State Peace Commission, Mrs Priscilla Akut stated this at a three-day Negotiation and Mediation Training For Kajuru TRC Committee/Community Leaders which started in Kaduna on Monday July 20, 2020.
“While making efforts to ensure peace in Kajuru, we issues developed on Zango Kataf and Kauru, which we are believing will not continue.
“We are very optimistic that we will succeed in Kajuru and other LGAs will come and learn from Kajuru. We are optimistic that Kajuru will be a template that will be used in other LGAs,” she said.
She said that KAPECOM is pleased with the reconciliation committee in Kajuru for successes recorded so far.
Akut said that Malam Nasir el-Rufai is aware of the training and extends his greetings.
“The state government is committed towards ensuring lasting peace in Kajuru,” she added.
She thanked Mercy Corps for providing resources to make the training possible
“Everything that has to do with the training, the rooms you sleep in, the food you will be eating all through is from their pockets,” she added.
Akut commended Kajuru LGA Chairman, Cafra Caino for efforts made at restoring peace in the LGA.
She also praised Mercy Corps Executive Deputy Chief of Party, Sani Suleiman for his efforts in training people on mediation and negotiation training.
The engagement is part of Community Initiatives To Promote Peace (CIPP), supported by USAID, Kaduna State Peace Commission and Mercy Corps.
