It was a black day for men of Ebonyi State Command of Nigeria Police Force who on Wednesday 29 July, 2020, lost four Policemen in the hands of an unknown gunmen at Ezzamgbo Junction.

It was gathered that the four policemen were attached to the Enugu Police Command escorting a bullion van to a First generation bank located along Ogoja Road in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital but lost their lives following gunshot attacks by the suspected armed robbers in Ezzamgbo, along the Enugu/Abakaliki Express way.

Confirming the report, Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Loveth Odah said, the four policemen were shot dead with other officers inflicted serious gunshot injuries by the gunmen.

Mrs. Odah further said, the robbers operated with two vehicles, one in front of the bullion van and the other behind.

She however, said, on getting to the Ezzamgbo flyover, now under construction, the robbers disregard the traffic rule to their advantage, and opened fire on the security operatives.

The Police Spokesperson said, the robbers did not succeed robbing off the money for having driven back to Enugu State following their failed target.
