Residents of Ebonyi State penultimate weekend eulogized the state Governor, Engineer David Umahi for the distribution of palliatives to over 200 indigent persons per polling unit across the 13 local government areas of the state.
This came to lime light as the people smiled home with 5kg bags of rice, some tins of tomatoes, groundnut oil, sugar, instant noodles among others.
Our reporter who went round to monitor the distribution reported that there were relatively peace in all centers of the distribution and cases of diversion by criminal elements were not recorded.
Speaking, the Caretaker Chairman Ebonyi local Government Area, Hon. Francis Nwogbaga, expressed gratitude to God for giving Ebonyians Governor like Engr. David Umahi who has interest of the people at heart, wishing him divine upliftment in the nearest future.
He stated that the distribution of palliatives became imperative to alleviate the suffering of the people who were recently faced by Covid-19 dilemma, noting that the disbursement followed the measures taken by the State government in ensuring that it reached to the grassroots.
Equally speaking, the Caretaker Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area, Hon. Afamefuna Ebenyi, said security agencies were on guard and himself to monitor the distribution to ensure peaceful and equitable distribution across the sixteen and one hundred and sixty five boots in the council area.
He added that, now is the right time for the palliatives because inflation of goods and commodities presently have subjected many people to untold hardship.
However, the Caretaker Chairman Ezza North Local Government Area, Hon. Oganyi Christian Oganyi, expressed joy over the smooth distribution of the items and thanked the governor for elevating the peoples of the state especially the vulnerables.
In their separate contributions, the Caretaker Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Hon. Nicodemus Omenka, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Industrial clusters, Ebonyi Central, Hon. Edwin Okah, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter Party and Labour Matters Comr.(Mrs) Jennifer Adibe Nwafor, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Assembly Matter, Hon. Julius Nwokpo, the Commissioner for Business Development, Dr. Stephen Odoh and the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon. Moses Ogodo Ali Nome, hinted that the palliatives was transparently distributed saying that every one felt the positive impact of the State Governor, which they said geared towards ameliorating the hardship occasioned to the people by the ravaging corona virus in the state.
They described the Governor as an icon of good governance and wished him long life, good health and prosperity as he commemorate his fifty seven years anniversary.
