Environment Commissioner Meets Property Owners, Commercial Institutions, Unveils Plans On Urban Beautification

    In compliance to the directive of His Excellency the governor of Ebonyi State, Engr David Umahi for trees/ornamental flowers to be planted in all the streets of Abakaliki, the capital city, the management of the state ministry of Environment on Saturday met with financial institutions, property and Estate owners in the Capital city to intimate them on the directive of the Governor and as well fashion out ways to tackle it with in the space of time.


    The Commissioner, Comrade Jonah Egba  who received this groups  in his office at Centenary City Abakaliki, told them that the Governor has directed for the concreting of frontages, scooping of gutters and planting of ornamental trees in all the streets of Abakaliki.


    Egba pointed out that some of the essential features of big cities were the ornamental trees along the streets, scooped drainages and beautiful lights that shines every where and appealed to Ebonyians to support the present administration to actualise this wonderful vision for a better tomorrow.


    According to him, the working train of the ministry would embark on another aggressive tree planting and scooping of gutters along old Ogoja Rd, today Saturday, 8th August,2020.
    He used the occasion to invite all the business men , landlords, property owners and inhabitants of the aforementioned area to come out enmass and join the staff of the ministry to do the needful.


    The Senior special assistant to the Governor on Environment, prince Sunny Ugwuocha and the new permanent Secretary of the ministry Mr Stephen Nwele both appreciate those who honoured the invitation adding that refusal to adhere to this directive is punishable according to Environmental law  2015, coded 009.
