The Zamfara State Police Commissioner, Barrister Usman Nagogo has warned politicians to stop playing politics with security issues in the state as any attempt to ridicule security will be dealt with squarely.Nagogo gave the warning

on Thursday while briefing journalists at the Police Command Headquarters in Gusau.
According to a text of the briefing made available to AUTHENTIC News Daily, he said the tactics by politicians to turn serious security issues to frivolity in order to gain public sympathy will not be tolerated.
The Commissioner said then as a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Police Command in 2016, he chaired the special committee on Disarmament and Amnesty set up by the previous administration of Alhaji Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar and the Committee was able to recover different calibres of arms including 16 AK 47 and a rocket launcher.
He said as the chairman of committee whose membership included a first class Emirs, Permanent Secretaries and top security personnel, he met with many bandits in the forest including the most notorious bandit ‘Buharin Daji’ at his enclave in a place called ‘Bokani.
“Then these same politicians were calling me a hero who loved and want security in Zamfara but now just because of their selfish politics, they say I am political,” he said.
He said on 12th September, the Police on intelligent and credible information got wind that certain individuals are holding a meeting with some leaders of repentant bandits with a view to entice them with monetary and other incentives in order to go back to the forest and return to the dark days.
Nagogo therefore explained that the arrest of Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Dantabawa and 17 others on12th September, was based on intelligent driven report and a proactive measures taken by the Police to curtail any act of banditry and related criminality in the state.
“However, miscreants and people who doesn’t meant well for the good people of the state acted in a manner that was not only inimical to the peace of Zamfara but also displayed an act of rascality with its attendant consequences by invading the Police Command Headquarters on 13th September,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police said the action by the people is presumably to destroy any evidence that is likely to influence the outcome of investigation and also to test the patient and resolved of the Police in handling matters bothering on security and fundamental human rights of the citizens.

“At this juncture, let me sound a word of warning that any attempt to display this kind of uncivilized behaviour in the Police Headquarters or anywhere in the state will be dealt with squarely according to the law of the land,” he warned.
Nagogo said combined forces of well armed 877 personnel are currently stationed at strategic locations across the state and other 100 Special Forces on ground being used in case of any threat.
