Kaduna Marathon Will Raise State’s Investment, Talent Hub – el-Rufai


The Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai has expressed optimism that the maiden Kaduna State Half Marathon, tagged “Kaduna Runs” will raise Kaduna’s Investment potentials as well as its talent hub.

Malam el-Rufai expressed this  at a press briefing and unveiling of the Kaduna Runs held at the Council Chambers, Kaduna State Government House on Saturday.
 He said that he was delighted to welcome all to the event to announce the inaugural edition of the half marathon will hold in November 2020.

“Let us come together for those hoping to win or those to cheer the runners.
“Participation can also be used to support charity.
“We call on all Kaduna residents to support,” he said.
The Governor expressed hopes that when all their ongoing urban renewal  is completed, they can host full marathon.
“Kaduna Runs is a family thing, as five kilometre and others are incorporated into the race.
“Kaduna Runs is fully funded by sponsors and those who reslgister to run.
“We want to keep.doubling the prize money every year. From 2021, we will add a lifeline to our budget for the Marathon,” he said.

 He disclosed that he has already registered for the marathon.
“I am announcing that I will not do more than five kilometres.
“I urge you to register and I pray you come back again and again
“Kaduna a home where everyone can live in peace, devoid of religious and ethnic differences,” he said.
On the several successes being recorded by the state, he said that it is as a result of team work.
“I appeal to you to stop over complimenting the Governor. All the excellent decisions are collectively taken at the Executive meeting,” he said.
Speaking further, he disclosed that they have plans to build mini stadia throughout the state. 

“We will bring in many programmes to bring back sports are on the way,” he assured.
el-Rufai said that they appointed an experienced commissioner to sports, to ensure its all round development.
“He was before Commissioner of Agriculture,” he said.
