8 Candidates Shortlisted For Yusuf Maitama Sule University VC’s Position



    The Selection Board for the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor of Yusuf Maitama sule University, Kano has shortlisted eight candidates that qualified for interview of the position.

    A statement signed by the Head, Information, Publications & Public Relations Unit, Abdullahi Abba Hassan said that the Selected Board will conduct the interview on 29th and 30th September, 2020 at the Council Chamber of the University, Senate Building, Main Campus, as it had already dispatched invitations to the eight eligible candidates.

    Those shortlisted candidates are out of many applicants that responded to the advertisement of the post and those that were reached by the search panel of the University.

    They are from various institutions and academic fields. Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji from Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, who is a Professor of Technology Education and an indigene of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of the state and Professor Mukhtar A. Kurawa, the Rector of Kano State Polytechnic, who is also a Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and an indigene of Kano Municipal Local Government formed the list.Others among the list are Professor Bako El-Yakub Jibril of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Professor of Chemical Engineering and Professor Ali Tijjani Abdullahi from Bayero University, Kano, a Professor of Special Education are from the Kano Municipal Local Government Area too.

    The rest are Professor Balarabe A. Jakada, Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, a Professor of Business Management; Professor Aliyu Musa of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, a Professor of Curriculum and Instruction and Professor Sadiq Z. Abubakar of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Professor of Agricultural Engineering are from Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State, while Professor Lawal Alhassan Bichi from Bayero University, Kano, a Professor of Pharmacology is an indigene of Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State. 

    The process was delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic, while the tenure of the former Vice Chancellor came to an end on May 17, this year.
