Former Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has said that he has come back to strengthen the people democratic party. (PDP)
The immediate past governor also stated that he only went out for a few days to find out what is happening outside PDP and have returned back to strengthen the party.
Uduaghan stated this at his unit in Ward 6, Abigborodo, Warri North local government council area of Delta State. on Monday.
The ex-governor formally led thousands of supporters to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to received his membership card.
Dr. Uduaghan said. “I only stepped out for a few days to find out what is happening there and I have come back to strengthen the party. I have come to reactivate my membership card. I have picked it up today.
“I am hearing that there are a few challenges, we have the manpower, the experience to be able to elevate our area and the people of Delta state, and that we shall do.
“We will get our own of whatever is due to us by God’s grace. We will get what is due us. I am sure there is very little I don’t know about this state. I promise you that collectively, as we are standing here now, we shall sit as often as possible and articulate our issue.
“The nation is currently facing hard times, President Muhammadu Buhari is “doing his best”.
“Am also commending the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for his efforts in holding the party together since he emerged leader of the party in the state.
“I want to thank Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, who has been holding every part of the state since he became governor. It is not easy. I want to urge all of us to continue to pray for him so that he can complete his tenure”.
“l also thank God for the ward structure, including the chairman and other members for the grand welcome.”
The House of Representatives member, Hon. Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, the deputy state chairman of the party, Val Areyinka, former commissioners of the state, Vincent Uduaghan and Rev Mrs Omashola Williams, were among members of the party who welcomed the governor at his ward.
Hon Ereyitomi, in his words said, “your exit created a big vacuum in our political system. Today that you are back, the vacuum is well filled”.
The Warri North LGA council chairman, Aduge Okorodudu, on his part, said the council is happy over the return of the ex- governor who incidentally is from my LGA, he “has come home”.
“The party is stronger today. And I can assure you that the structure you left is still there,” Ereyinka added.
The ward chairman, Mr. Kingsley Ogio, also said during his welcome address that “the entire Ward and PDP family are happy to welcome you back, just as we described the ex-governor as one who had contributed largely to “the ideals of democracy in Nigeria”.
“We pray God to give you more wisdom and strategy to take our dear party to a higher level come 2023,” the ward chairman said.
