Arrangements have been concluded for the hosting of the fourth quota meeting of the Federal Ministry Of Youth snd SportsNorth West Zone, scheduled for October 4, 2020.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Zonal Coordinator, Idris Abdullahi, made available on Thursday October 1, 2020.
According to the statement, it would feature the Directors of Sports from the seven states that make up the zone.
“This is to inform you and the General Public that necessary
arrangements has been concluded by the North West-Zonal Sports Office of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for to host the meeting in collaboration with the Directorate of Youth & Sports, Gusau, Zamfara State and Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Zannan Gusau, Kachallan Hausa our Newly Nominated Member of North West Zone on the Board of Athletics Federation of Nigeria,” it stated.
It said the meeting billed for the Directorate of Sports, Gusau Zamfara State will commence by 10:00am Prompt.
“The Cardinal Aims and Objectives of the Meeting Amongst others are:Assessments of Awareness/Sensitization on COVID-19 Lecture Conducted by the Zonal Sports Office of the Federal Ministry of Youth& Sports Development for Directors of Sports at States Levels with aview to ascertain the Levels of States Precautionary MeasuresPreparations for Participation at Competitions and Championship.
“North West states preparation for participation at the forth-coming National Sports Festival tagged EDO 2020,” it informed.
It further said that the meeting will also discuss North West states readiness to participate at the 7th National Youth Games tagged Ilorin 2020, as well as the conduct of Kaduna State Mini-Marathon scheduled for November, 2020.
It added, “Resuscitation of Schools Sports from comatose with a view for sustainable programmes on Olympics sports/games like Athletics, Basketball, Football, Karate, Taekwondo, Weight Lifting, Boxing and Paralympics Sports Etc. within the Zone.
“States Readiness for participation at Zonal U-17 Table Tennis Championship slated for Kano.
“Reassessment of caution for Zonal Representatives on the boards of various sports federations.
“Conduct of capacity building programmes on combat and non combat sports/games within the zone.
“Conduct of community youths sports clubs competitions and championships.”
The statement noted that other related sports matters will also be tabled for deliberation.
“It is also expected that the forum will grace the o casion of the coronation ceremony of Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Zannan Gusau, Kachallan Hausa, as the District Head of Karal, Gusau Zamfara State.
“The Members will also pay a courtesy visit on His Excellency, Alhaji, Dr., Bello Muhammad Matawallen Maradun, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State,” it informed.
The Zonal Sports Office pointed out that, the meeting would set the pace in their collective efforts and determination of the office and states under the zone as well as some zonal representatives on the boards of various sports federations to further explore formidable ways for sustainable growth and development of sports at the grassroots level within the zone.
The North West Zone comprises of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
