Jubilation As Ikeogwu Wins Delta NUJ Election, Reelected For Second Term

    It was a night of jubilation at the Labour House in Asaba, Delta State Capital as Comrade Michael Ikeogwu won the just concluded election of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta Council.
    Ikeogwu who is the candidate of the Redemption Team was massively reelected for a second term in Office by members of the union.
    He defeated Comrade Churchill Oyowe of the Prize Team with a wide margin.
    Ikeogwu who is a Staff of The Pointer Newspaper polled a total number of 207 while Comrade Churchill Oyowe of the Delta State Ministry of Information who was brought in by some purported godfathers, managed to garner 202 votes.
    Other members who were elected into office with Comrade Michael Ikeogwu in the Redemption Team include, Comrade Salvation Ogono, Vice Chairman, Patrick Ochei(Prize Team) Secretary, Felix Ekwu, Assistant. Secretary and Celestine Afakoba, Auditor. 
    Ikeogwu and the others who will be piloting the affairs of the Union in the next three years sang and danced to the tune of “Redemption Songs” by Bob Marley.
