The Christian Association of NIgeria (CAN), Kaduna State while rejoicing over the release of school children abducted in Katsina State, has appealed to the government to ensure release of others in captivity, to make more families and communities happy, by employing same strategies for Leah Sharibu and others out of captivity.
This was expressed in a statement signed by the Chairman CAN Kaduna State, Rev John Joseph Hayab made available to newsmen on Friday.
“To make many more homes, families and communities happy, we appeal to the government to double her efforts to rescue many more Nigerians that are in the dens of bandits, criminals and terrorists,” it said.
CAN in the statement titled, “The Release of Kankara School Children: a Cheering News” said that the news of the release of the school children that were abducted by gunmen in Katsina State is cheering news and the spirit and tempo that government and security agencies employed to get the children back home should be sustained and engaged to get others who are still in captivity to return home.
“One can imagine the joy, peace, and excitement of the parents and all well-wishers on the heels of the news the schoolchildren’s return,” it added.
The statement said that moreover, the government should not go to sleep, enabling the criminals to regroup or re-strategise.
“Without a doubt, Nigerians have suffered untold tragedy and many are still suffering in the hands of bandits,” it stressed.
They therefore, prayed to see that the evil stops and a new lease of life of peace and hope take over the country.
“CAN equally appeals that the same tactics engaged to get 300 students released should be urgently deployed in getting Leah Sharibu and others in out of captivity.
Our prayer is that Nigerians will celebrate this Christmas and enter the New Year with hope for a secured nation.
