National Institute Of Leather Technology: Arewa Youths Elites Initiative Slams Group Over Alleged Plans To Destabilize Institution

    A group, the Arewa Youth Elites Initiative has decried alleged moves to destabilize progress being made at the National Institute of Leather & Science Technology, Zaria and by extension peace and harmonious relationship in Zaria.
    The group expressed this in a statement signed by its  National Secretary, Comrade Ma’aruf Muhammed, made available to our correspondent on Wednesday January 6, 2021.

    “In the struggle to ensure peace and stability in Zaria and its environs by Arewa Youth Elites Initiative,  our attention was drawn to the purported publications aimed at maligning the image of National Institute of Leather & Science Technology, Zaria and by extension destabilize the peace and harmonious relationship the Institute enjoys with the good people of Zaria,” the National Secretary said.
    Comrade Ma’aruf Muhammed said that  their utmost aim is to see to the development of Zaria been his home land, Kaduna State and Northern Nigeria at large irrespective of tribal, religious and political inclinations.
    The National Secretary stated that from  extensive investigations as a Chartered Administrator, the operations of the Institute is strictly guided by public service rules and extant circulars and also added that Hon Datti Garba Babawo was assisting in processing the NILEST bill which was initiated by the Management of the Institute.
    He added that it was important for the group and their cohorts to understand that Mr President appoints all Chief Executives after due process have been satisfied in line with the public service rules and necessary extant circulars. In addition, the composition of the Council/ Board Members is dependent on the act establishing the Institute which varies and all appointments that were done in the past till date were done following due process and guidelines provided by the Head of Service.
    “Since Dr. Eucharia N. Oparah assumed office, she has maintained the operational structure established by her predecessors till date he added.
    “More so, academic activities have stabilized despite the earlier crises between 2010 and 2017 which we lost more than one academic session and students were duly admitted and graduated as at when due and attend the National Youth Service Corp which included students who are on his scholarship package and further get employment the National,” the secretary added.           
    On this note, he  called on all stakeholders this group are disturbing over personal and flimsy issues to tell the group to be focused, productive and think positively to the upliftment of Zazzau Emirate and Kaduna at large than try to cause hatred and destabilize a focused woman who is out to strengthen the system of the Institute in line with the developmental agenda of Mr. President.   
    He called on the said group to visit institutions which they know have over employed or gone against the budget line for their manpower budget that has led some institutions not been able to pay salaries for several months and fight for them to be paid or fight the institutions to dismiss the staffs illegally employed than disturb an innocent woman. 
    He finally called on the Ag Director General of the institute to remain focused and determined against all odds which are meant to make her derail and give attention to mushroom groups not even established by law. 
    “NILEST is a Federal Institute and belongs to us all,” he concluded.
