The Main Bowl of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna came alive on Saturday for the final of the maiden Youth Sports Federation of NIgeria (YSFON) Aliyu Abdullahi Sumaila U-15 Soccer Competition hosts, Kaduna State and visiting Kano State.
The match which was behind closed doors in adherence to the dreaded COVID-19 protocols, saw the business like Kano winning the trophy, donated by President YSFON (North Western Zone), Aliyu Abdullahi Sumaila, by beating the hosts 0-2.
The first half ended with only one goal as the Kano lads scored, while the hosts failed to shake the net after several failed attempts.
Midway into the second half, while Kaduna was trying to level up, Kano State increased the tally to make it 0-2.
Earlier in the third place match, Bauchi State beat Kebbi State to lift the bronze.
In his remarks, President YSFON (North Western Zone), Aliyu Abdullahi Sumaila assured that it would be an annual competition.
In an interview with newsmen, Kano Pillars Board member, Hajia Surraya Aminu, Sai Mama said that she was happy with the victory because Kano Pillars is important and the Governor will be happy with the victory.
She assured that a dinner party will be organised in honour of the team where several prizes will be presented to them for making the state proud.
Trophies, medals and certificates were presented to the winners and runners-up, while medals and certificates were presented to the third place winners.
Some of the dignitaries sighted at the closing ceremony included the Zonal Coordinator North West Zone, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris, Kaduna State Sports Writers Association of NIgeria (SWAN) Chairman, Comrade Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, and National Organising Secretary YSFON, Alhaji Abdulrazak Usman.
Others spotted are Kano Pillars Board member, Hajia Surayya aka Sai Mama, YSFON Technical Director, Alhaji Abdulgafar Agboola and former Kaduna State FA Secretary, Alhaji Abdulsalam Jere.
