Abducted Delta SSANU Chairman Regains Freedom

    The kidnapped chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Delta State University, Abraka Branch, Comrade Izu, Monday has regained his freedom. 
    AUTHENTIC NEWS DAILY gathered that the varsity don, regained freedom along side his driver.

    Sources said that, the Union leader was released six days after he was abducted.
    AUTHENTIC NEWS DAILY earlier reported that the varsity don was kidnapped along Eku-Abraka road in Ethiope East Local Government Area while returning from office.

    “His abductors (gunmen) had allegedly hide around a failed portion of the road waiting for their targets. 
    They had allegedly, earlier demanded N200 million ransom from their freedom after establishing contact with the family members of the Union leader and his driver.
    When contacted for comment the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Onome Onovwakpoyeya. Said, “Both familie members of the  Union leader and driver were, allegedly pleaded for N5 million. 
    DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the released on behalf of the state police to our correspondent on Wednesday evening said, ” Yes, the Union leader has been released.
    “He regained his freedom yesterday Tuesday 26, January 2021. But we don’t know if the family pay any ransom for his released. PPRO added.”
