*Marina Resort Reopens After Traditional Cleansing
By EDEM DUKE, Calabar
Traditional leaders from the ruling Duke Town Council, performed the traditional cleansing rites yesterday, in Calabar.
Angry youths had invoked traditional Injunction which brought business activities at the famous resort to a halt. They accused management of the resort of mismanagement and high-level corruption. But Bassey Ndem, one of the traditional leaders from Duke Town Council, host community of the resort, said issues that led to the closure of the resort had been put to rest.
Meanwhile, Arch. Bassey Ndem has also hinted that the processes of bringing back the ostracised Ekpenyong family back into the Duke Town rulling council has began.
According to Arch. Bassey Ndem “This is the first step as there are a number of things to be done until they are fully integrated. You may recall the difficulties that we had in 2017, when the Ekpenyong family was ostracized and suffered under royal sanction, so this is the first step since they come home. We believe that it will be a journey of successful integration and peace.
This integration is with Duke Town Family Council but there are other steps to be taken and that is going to involve the whole of nation.
It’s a process of reversal and reintegration, so whatever that was done then, has to be undone.”
