The Gombe State Government has on Friday February 19, 2021 imposed a 24-hr curfew on Billiri Local Government Area with immediate effect.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary To The State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, which said the curfew was to prevent loss of lives and property, following the outbreak of violence.
“Following the current eruption of violence in Billiri Town, which has degenerated into a security threat to both lives and property, Gombe State Government has imposed 24 hours curfew within Billiri Local Government Area with immediate effect from today.19th February.2021.
“The Government affirmed the need for peaceful co-existence among the citizenry and commitment tothe protection of lives and properties,” it said.
It said that consequently, the government has suspended all forms of gatherings in Billiri Local Government Area.
“All security agencies are hereby directed to ensure strict compliance with this directive.
“All citizens are expected to comply with the directive except thosepersonnel providing essential services,” the statement further informed.
