Terworh Foundation Clears Refuse Off Kaduna Waterways To Prevent Flooding

    Volunteers of Teworh Foundation on Saturday, embarked on community service, which saw them desilt a water channel in Ungwan Rimi axis of Kaduna metropolis.

    The waterway littered with refuse before it was cleared.

    The benefiting area is located around Kinshasha Road, behind Cavendish School.

    The refuse cleared, including water sachets and plastic bottles, were subsequently donated to a recycling organisation for brick moulding, while the plastic bottles were donated to a school of special needs for use as pencil case.

    Chairman of Teworh Foundation, Suraj Abdulwahab Olaniyi in an interview with newsmen, said the foundation embarked on the exercise primarily to prevent flooding and outbreak of diseases.

    “We are doing our community service today, clearing a riverside to allow free flow of water and prevent flooding in Ungwar Rimi.

    “The materials like pure water sachets will be donated to a recycling organization to make bricks, while we will re-use the water bottles to make pencil case and donate them to a deaf and dumb school behind Police Barack/ Katsina Road,” he informed.

    Speaking further, he explained that as part of activities to keep youth off vices, they also held some sporting activities same day, where youth gathered and we’re united, in spite of ethnic and religious differences.
