High Rate Of Killings, Kidnapping in NIgeria Unacceptable – HEKAN President

    By KATO P. LADAN, Kaduna

The President of the HEKAN Church, Reverend Amos Kiri has said that the bad State of security in NIgeria is leading the country into a dangerous slide and giving birth to ethnic and regional champions.
He expressed this in a speech delivered at the HEKAN National Convention/61st Anniversary on Sunday April 11 at the church’s national headquarters in Kaduna.
“The security situation in our country is dangerously poised to say the least, the high rate ofkidnappings and killings is unacceptable; there is no day that passes by without innocentNigerians being killed or kidnapped for ransom.
“The situation is so bad that we see the rise and ranting of ethnic and regional champions.
“The Government of Nigeria must rise to its responsibility to protect the lives of innocent Nigerians irrespective of tribe and beliefs.
“The issue of Fulani herdsmen and banditry has been allowed to linger for too long thereby threatening the very fabric that unites us as a country,” he said.
Speaking further, he said that every life is precious to God.
“The Lord God values human lives, he also values human dignity, and that is why he has made us distinct from all of his creatures.
“As such, he expects us to treat one another with utmost respect. Respect for human dignity is not a matter of choice but a must to do, and it starts with loving one another as we love ourselves.
“It baffles me when  humans kidnap and traffick fellow humans for money,” he said.
Kiri pointed out that kidnappers and human traffickers are not only enemies of the society, but that of God.
