Ochor Rejoices, Salutes Team Delta, Over EDO 2020 Victory

    The Deputy Speaker and Member Representing Ukwuani State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Christopher Ochor Ochor, has commended the excellent performance of Team Delta in the just concluded 2020 edition of the National Sports Festival held in Benin City, Edo State.
    In his congratulatory remarks in a Press Release by His Press Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli, the  Deputy Speaker stated that, the Delta State Government led by His Excellency, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has consistently taken development of sports as one of his  Stronger Delta Agenda, this has necessitated the victory, Team Delta has shown in all competitions.
    “Our government led by His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has consistently equipped the Delta State Sports Commission, charging them to ensure Delta State ranks highest in all sporting activities in the federation.
    “It is because of the importance of sports in the development of the society that the Governor has been investing hugely in the sports sector of the state. Thus, completing the Stephen Keshi Stadium into an ultra modern edifice and sponsoring annual schools sports competitions.
    “Thus, this victory gives credence to the fact that the Okowa-led administration is committed to sports development and the victory of Team Delta at  Edo 2020 affirms the positive results of the huge investments made by our Governor in the sports sector.”
    He stated that it’s a thing of joy to know that the state came out top, in the competition.
    “It is  a thing of joy to know that in all games, Team Delta won the highest number of medals topping other states of the federation, finishing with 156 gold, 126 silver and 110 bronze medals totalling, 394 medals.”
    The Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chris Ochor thanked the governor, for enabling this feat, particularly the back-to-back victory as has been recorded by the state over the last six years.
    According to the Deputy Speaker; “This victory will go a long way in motivating the increased attention by our government in funding sports activities to maintain our lead ranking in the federation over the past six years.”
    He concluded by saying; “I say a big congratulations to the people of Delta State, the Team Delta, the Delta State Sports Commission and our dear Governor for his visionary investments in sports – this victory belongs to us all.”
