The Deputy Minority Whip of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Abdul – Majid Adesegun Adekoya Attacker was on Saturday 26th June 2021 honoured by the prestigious Ijebu Ode Club which was founded in 1921.
The Ijebu Ode Club recently celebrated her one hundred years of existence. During the centenary celebration, the Ijebu Ode Club appreciated and honoured some notable Nigerians which included the Great Aremo Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye, Aremo Adesegun Adekoya as the Centenary Chief Liason Officer.
The President of the Club, Barr Adegbenga Ogunba commended Aremo Adesegun Adekoya MHR over his unprecedented developmental efforts that are notable in his Federal Constituency – Ijebu North, Ijebu North East and Ogun Waterside LGs.
Barr. Ogunba described Aremo Adesegun Adekoya has a golden fish who has no where to hide. The President of Ijebu Ode Club said he was not surprised when Aremo Adesegun Adekoya MHR emerged the overall best of the Federal Lawmakers in Ogun State for the year 2020 / 2021.
The Club President later charged Aremo Ebumawe to assist in the physical development of Ijebu Club while assuring the Deputy Minority Whip of the Federal House of Representatives of the Club total support and loyalty.
The Royal Grand Patron of the Club, HRM Alayeluwa Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona CFR JP, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu Land was represented at the occasion by the the Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye HRH Alayeluwa Oba Abdl-rasaq Adesina Adenugba OkokodanomejI.
The Ijebu Traditional Council rejoiced with the Ijebu Ode Club, appreciated members for their positive contributions to Ijebu Land. The Ijebu Traditional Council also congratulate and commend the Deputy Minority Whip of the Federal House of Representatives Rt. Honourable Adesegun Adekoya for his giant strides in the National Assembly.
The Council expressed her confidence in Aremo while urging him to continue with his good deeds beyond 2023. The Ijebu People are proud of him.
The Ijebu Ode Club Centenary Chief Laison Officer, AREMO Adesegun Adekoya MHR / DMW in acceptance speech appreciated the President and the entire members of the Ijebu Ode Club for the honour done on him and others. He promised his total support to the growth and development of the club.
The Aremo Ebumawe used the occasion to call on the Ijebu Sons and Daughters across the globe to come together and unite for the rapid growth of the entire Ijebu Land.
Aremo Adekoya expressed his displeasure on why only Ijebu Province out of all the Provinces in Nigeria before 1960 has not become a full State on her own while all other old Provinces have become two or more States.
Aremo Adekoya couldn’t also comprehend while all the Federal Institutions – University, Polytechnic, College of Education, Federal Medical Center etc were located outside Ijebu Land. He was worried about the political calculations of our past Leaders while urging everybody to work towards a better Ijebu Land.
Other dignitaries honoured, included King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, Otunba (Dr.) Ronke Kolade Carew, Otunba Babatunde Shakiru Olufowobi, Hon. Aare Oluwakemi Oduwole, Hon Olufemii Adeleke Ogunbanwo , Hon Alhaji Odusile Abdulwaheed and HRH OBA Michael Adesina, the Olowu of Owu Ijebu.
The publisher of Ijebu News, Moses Oladipupo and other members of Egbe Bobagunte Akile Ijebu graced the occasion.
