There was a mild drama in Sagamu area of Ogun State as residents stormed the Negbuwa palace to arrest one Mr Kola Adeyemi who is allegedly parading himself as the community monarch since three years.
The aggrieved residents, while speaking to our correspondent, alleged Mr Kola Adeyemi to have installed himself as the king of the community without the authority of the State government and the traditional rulers in the community.
The Police from Area Command later wisked Kola Adeyemi from the palace to protect him from lynching by the agreived community people who are on the mission to eject him totally from the palace.
Addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Sagamu, the Otunba Akogun of Ibido land Adesola Emmanuel Adetunji described kola as an impostor, whom the community would not recognise as their Certified Oba, since the government has not installed the authentic king which is from Sololade ruling house.
According to him, Kola Adeyemi has been parading himself for the past three years since the Obaship position is vacant in the community and within the three years he has not received a dime from the state government because on the list at Ogun State Ministry of Chieftancy Affairs, Nebuwa of Ibido is still vacant.
“We want to select another person in which the family of Solomade is next to be the king out of the four ruling houses in the community.
“From all fact available to us, Kola Adeyemi is not a member of Solomade ruling house and the duty of ibido development council is to make sure that the king comes from the next ruling house which is Solomade.
“We are not against him as a person but imposing himself as the Oba of this community, we say no and we the community do not recognize him.
“The government has taken a step and a letter has been written to the Akarigbo of Remoland and a report has been sent to the governor and the commissioner for local government and chieftancy affairs .
“As I’m speaking to you that position is still vacant and for him to come into this place that’s illegal occupation of the palace.
“He was also accused of selling the ancestral land of the people in the community” he submitted.
Also, an Elder in community Mr E.O Osho said the community leaders have been warning him to move out of the palace for a long time but he refused.
“He sold landed property reserved for the worship of the gods of the land and proposed land meant for hospital and social amenities in Ibido village”.
“Kola has destroyed so many things for the past three years” he affirmed.
Security Operatives who arrested Mr Kola comprises of the Amotekun Corps, Policemen, and Vigilante Service of Ogun state.
