The Emir of Dutse in Jigawa State, Alh. ( Dr.) Nuhu Mohammed Sunusi has urged the Nigeria Police Force to train and re-train its personnel to cope with the current security challenges in the country.
Speaking while receiving the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba Alkali in his palace at the weekend while on state familiarization tour, he expressed satisfaction with the performance of the new Inspector General of Police in bringing to an end the issue of banditry, and other related crime in the country.
The Emir assured the Inspector General of traditional institutions support in his efforts to maintain law and order in Nigeria.
Responding, the IGP noted that traditional institutions have a vital role to play in ensuring relative peace and security in Nigeria.
Also speaking on courtesy visit on Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State at the Government House Dutse, he comended Jigawa State Government for its support and cooperation to security agencies in the state in ensuring peace and tranquility.
The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali explained that Jigawa State Governor, Badaru Abubakar had been supporting the security agencies in the state.
According to him, he was in the state as part of his familiarization tour to the 36 states of the federation.
Also speaking, Governor Badaru Abubakar said the Inspector General of Police has been proactive in ensuring peace and security in the country.
He pointed out that the state government and people of the state are aware of the giant strides of police and other security agencies in overcoming the current security challenges facing the country.
Badaru Abubakar therefore, assured that the state government would continue to cooperate and support security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people.
