Climate Change: Environmental Preservationists Brainstorm, Chart New Course In Kaduna

    Worried by global warming and its devastating effects on plants and humans, stakeholders in climate change have converged on Kaduna to chart a favourable course aimed at shielding the environment from the effects of global warming.

    The workshop known as Green Hangout Kaduna 0.1 sponsored and conveyed by Green Climate Africa, dwelled on issues mitigating against the country adopting and domesticating international conventions on measures to fight against Global warming.

    A statement signed by Comrade Yusuf Idris Amoke, Executive Director Green Climate Africa, said it has become mandatory to find a lasting solution to global warming in the country.

    A resource person at the climate change gathering of over 100 participants, Mr. Emmanuel Bonet of Aid Foundation, lamented deteriorating level of the human natural habitat as a consequence of human activities such as; release of carbon gasses into the atmosphere, deforestation, industrialization among others.

    Bonet while acknowledging that the sad development could be redeemed and reposition the country’s climate to its hitherto natural state if Stakeholders put hands on deck with the aim of finding a lasting solution to the problems of climate change.

    The renowned environmentalist commended the efforts of Executive Director of Green Climate Africa, Yusuf Idris Amoke for convening interface of Practitioners with common goals and vision to ensure an ideal atmosphere for all, urging the organizer to make it a periodic event.

    Select themes of the occasion included; Climate Change and insecurity and Climate Justice: how far so far and other offshoots of agenda.

    The gathering, attended by personalities from various sectors, had academicians, media practitioners, clergymen, climate change practitioners among others.

    Pastor Yohana Buru in his remarks, expressed readiness of the Church in Kaduna to contribute its quota in the fight against global warming and climate change.

    Prominent personalities were recognized and honored for their roles in conserving the climate through personal and collective efforts.

    Director General of Kaduna State Urban Planing Development Authority Isma’il Dikko was honoured for planting over 10,000 trees within the metropolis and beyond.
