Bayelsa, one of the states in Nigeria heavily affected by the flood, has seen many communities submerged in all the local government areas.

Nwakaego led the Egobekee foundation to commiserate with the people in Anyama Ogbia in Ogbia LGA, and UPE, Internally Displaced person’s, (IDP), Camp, in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital,

She called for more support from good spirited Nigerians, government and private organizations to bring succor by way of relief materials to the displaced persons.

According to her: “The flood situation in Bayelsa is devastating and many people have lost properties and investments worth millions of naira as over 80% of Bayelsa state is submerged and cost of living is on the high side.

” Almost everyone that lives here lost their homes, offices and businesses.
Bayelsa has been my home for 14 years. After my NYSC in 2008. I won the best Corps member award, and was given a certificate of origin and Chieftaincy title. Bayelsans accepted me and this has prompted me to give back.

She added,” As much as we are all victims directly or indirectly, We still need to reach out to people who are less privileged than us which is why the Egobeke Foundation felt the need to show some love and reached out to over 1000 displaced persons.

Nwakaego lamented on the living conditions of the affected persons as some still lives in the water and refused to go to the camps made available for fear of their properties being looted.

“the people have suffered untold hardship as a result of the displacement caused by the ravaging flood.

She advised them to be Strong and prayed God to secure their lives in this trying time.
