Chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called on voters in Ika North East as a mark of respect to vote for the ticket of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Governor of Delta State, and Vice-Presidential candidate of the party Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in the 2023 Presidential election.
The party chieftains gave the reasons at Ute Okpu, at the final round of the Ward-to-Ward campaign in Ika North East Local Government Area, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
Addressing the people in each ward, the Chairman of the Delta North Senatorial District, Elder Moses Iduh, observed that voting for the Atiku-Okowa ticket would be to restore the dignity of the country from the bad governance that Nigerians are facing, and also will be a thank-you gift for Okowa, who has performed creditably.
He said that the people should be very happy to have their son elected to the second highest office in the country, as he will continue to do the best for the people of Ika, and Delta generally.
The chairman further observed that the governor has done marvelously well in the state and that he will do more if he becomes the Vice-President.
“Your son, Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, is your own, he is on the ballot with our Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Voting for PDP is voting out poverty and pain. Voting for PDP will be an honour to him, as he has shown us, love. I, therefore, call on you, to show him, love, by voting massively for the PDP in 2023, not just in the Presidential elections, but in all the offices.”
He called on the people to ensure that they use the opportunity given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC), as a starting point to honour Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
On his part, the Deputy Governorship Candidate, Sir Monday Onyeme, told the gathering of party supporters, that voting for Okowa, the success story of achievement in Delta will be replicated throughout the country, if the party wins Presidency, and he becomes the Vice-President, pointing that for them to achieve this, 100 per cent of their votes have to be for PDP.
“Having the number two man is enough to vote for the PDP. This is because he will use the office to attract more development from the Federal Government.
“PDP is the only party that will rescue and restore the country. Let us honour our own with our votes, by voting for all the candidates of the party in next year’s election.”
Also speaking, the Senatorial Candidate of the party, Prince Ned Nwoko, said that Okowa is a very good man, a true Anioma son who has made the state proud, with his policies which have touched many lives.
He stated that the presidential candidate saw something good in him and that was why he chose him to be his running mate.
“Your vote will be an honour for our dear governor. He is a good man. One of Anioma’s best. Atiku Abubakar saw something good in him, that was why he chose him.”
He continued; “Atiku saw a gentleman with integrity and uprightness. That was how Atiku described him. Please, if nothing else, because of Okowa, vote PDP, in all offices. We will not disappoint you.”
